Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to have questions. Here are some answers to the most common queries about how I work and what to expect.

Is psychotherapy right for me? If you’re struggling emotionally, feeling stuck, or want to explore yourself more deeply, therapy can offer real support. I provide a confidential, empathetic space where you can be yourself—without judgment

How long are sessions? Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes. This time is set aside just for you — a quiet, uninterrupted space to reflect, explore, and work through what’s important to you

What happens in the first session?
In our first session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy and explore whether we’re a good fit to work together. I usually ask more questions during this initial meeting to get a clearer sense of your needs and goals, and to help us both decide on the best path forward.

How many sessions will I need? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients come for short-term work (e.g. 6–12 sessions) focused on a specific issue, while others find longer-term therapy helpful for deeper exploration. We’ll review together as we go to find the pace and duration that feels right for you

Do you offer both In-person and online sessions? Yes, In-person or online appointments are available (where appropriate)

How much does it cost? Sessions are €70. A limited number of reduced-fee spaces may be available depending on circumstances — feel free to ask

How do I pay for the session? Payment can be made by either Cash or Revolut

What is your cancellation policy? If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your appointment (or missed sessions) may incur the full fee

What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy? Though often used interchangeably, there can be differences: Counselling is often shorter-term, focused on specific problems or life situations. Psychotherapy tends to be longer-term, exploring deeper emotional patterns and personal history. In practice, these often overlap — and what matters most is what feels right for you. I offer both, depending on your needs

What qualifications do you have? I hold a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, MSc in Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Dip in Social Studies.
I’m an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland (MTAI). I also hold full professional insurance

Is therapy confidential? Yes, confidentiality is central to the therapeutic relationship. Everything you share in therapy is treated with care and privacy. However, there are some legal and ethical exceptions which we discuss at the first session.

Not sure if therapy is right for you? That’s completely okay. You’re welcome to reach out with any questions — there’s no pressure or obligation. I’m happy to offer a brief phone or email exchange to help you decide if this feels like the right fit
